How to Bid

There is a choice of ways to bid in our auctions, all are simple & straightforward

  • Our sales are broadcast live on this website here and you can bid as you view. In order to bid, you will need to register on our live auction page and, if you already have an account with the-saleroom.com, you can use the same login details to register with us. For bidders who register via our own website, the buyer's premium is 17% + VAT (20.4% inclusive).
  • Alternatively, you can leave commission bids directly with us in advance and the auctioneer will bid on your behalf up to your limit. There is a reduced buyer's premium of 15% + VAT (18% inclusive) applicable to successful commission bids. Please use this form and email or post it to us in advance of the sale, to arrive latest by the deadline on the form. Please be assured: we are scrupulously honest and will never abuse your instructions by using your limit to create fictitious bids.
  • Arrange with us for one or more telephone bids, subject to a minimum opening bid of £100 per lot. These are also subject to the reduced buyer's premium of 15% + VAT (18% inclusive). Please complete this form, email or post it to us in advance of the sale (to arrive latest by the deadline on the form) and we will call you on auction day just before those lot(s) come up.
  • You can also bid live online at the-saleroom.com but please note that the premium for successful bids on that platform will be 23.94% inclusive.

Please be aware that our auction house does not have a despatch department and we do not ship items. Please do not ask as we do not make exceptions. Items not taken away from the saleroom on auction day should be collected, by arrangement, within 5 working days (10 working days while auctions are online only) of the sale date from our storeroom in Edenbridge TN8 6HF. If a shipping agent is required to collect, pack and deliver items, buyers may use one of their choice but we can suggest JenTel and Mail Boxes Etc, both of whom are specialists in auction collections.
